Canoeing for schools
Canoeing as a fieldtrip? That is a great and most of all beneficial idea! We offer canoeing tours for primary schools as well as for secondary schools and vocational education. Together with your classmates you board an open Canadian canoe. An adventurous, unique and splashing outing on the water. Canoeing for schools is very suitable as an introducing outing, fieldtrip or as part of a workweek or a camp. Whether you bring 15 classmates or 500 students is not a problem at Kanovaren Valkenswaard!
We can offer great daily programmes, like survival, paintball or a hexathlon combined with canoeing, in cooperation with Rofra Sportieve Arrangementen. If you would like further information on this you can call 040 2939078.
Experience and safety
Canoeing as a fieldtrip has been chosen by different schools for years. The canoeing tour starting in Borkel is most popular among schools. Canoeing on “De Dommel” is safe; there are no rapids and the river is about 1.5m deep at the deepest spots (this can be a little deeper in case of heavy rainfall). Pupils will be very well instructed about paddling techniques, safety and the environment. For every 15 students you can bring one supervisor, free of charge. It is mandatory for schools to have at least one supervisor canoeing in front of the students and one supervisor canoeing behind them.
Organisation
Students will assemble on the parking lot of “’t Boothuys” and will be taken to the canoe boarding point in Borkel with a bus from there. After instructions about paddling technique, safety and attention for nature the students will go canoeing on “De Dommel” under supervision from their school. Students and/or supervisors who are not in possession of a swimming diploma are mandated to wear a safety vest. The canoeing tour ends back at the Venbergse Watermolen”. If you would like to make use of our changing rooms and showers this is possible in the nearby “Boothuys”, please let us know beforehand. At the end of the canoe trip you have to walk nearby 300 metres back to ‘t Boothuys.
